I had just graduated from college and was confronted with one of the most difficult questions one can face: how to find an exciting profession that corresponded to my interests and abilities. I discovered the ideal opportunity in a dual study program leading to a degree in construction engineering and certification as a carpenter — it offered the perfect mix of theory and practice. As a globally operating company with a huge range of development opportunities, HOCHTIEF offered me an outstanding start to my professional career.
I was able to gain an initial impression of operations at a construction site at first hand while I continued my studies. I also decided to participate in an internship abroad in Qatar after my vocational training ended in order to maintain my ties with HOCHTIEF and expand my own professional horizons. The experience I gained there remains important and helpful for me to this very day.
I also successfully completed my studies with the help of HOCHTIEF. I wrote my master's thesis while working in the construction management team for a modernization project at Ruhr-Universität in Bochum. That’s also how I joined HOCHTIEF: I was hired as an assistant construction manager in the project team.
Today, almost six years later, I can look back on my studies and training and the beginning of my professional career and tell you that it was an exciting time full of very diverse experiences. That’s why I want to continue my career with HOCHTIEF in the future.
