In March, former Federal Minister of Economics and Technology Michael Glos invited representatives of the German construction industry to take part in a dialog round on "Industry and Environment" at the ministry. The theme of the event was "Climate Protection in Construction", and various presentations were given on the construction industry's contribution to environmental and climate protection. The presentation given by HOCHTIEF Consult, "The construction system solution as a response to climate protection", highlighted the common characteristics of the various new technologies.
In June HOCHTIEF is selected for inclusion in the ESI Excellence Europe. The Ethibel Sustainability Index (ESI) Excellence Europe was designed to approximate the S&P 350 Europe Index with respect to sustainability. Only Europe's leading companies in terms of sustainability get added in the Index. HOCHTIEF is the only German construction service provider (Sector "Heavy Construction") and one of only four construction service providers in the world which has been included in the ESI Excellence Europe.

This innovation workshop, which brings together science and business, is used to research and develop commercial properties. Research work is carried out by several divisionsprincipally HOCHTIEF Construction, HOCHTIEF Facility Management and HOCHTIEF ViConin collaboration with the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft and partner companies, to identify optimum ways of planning, building and operating commercial real estate.
