ARAG Administration Building, Düsseldorf
In Düsseldorf, the 125 meter tall headquarters of the ARAG insurance company has created a new landmark. It took HOCHTIEF only 26 months to complete the building on a turnkey basis. The office building was designed by star architect Lord Norman Foster and was inaugurated in April 2001.

In 1997, HOCHTIEF as general contractor handed over the twin towers Castor and Pollux in Frankfurt am Main. Castor is the smaller, angular building on the left; next to it is Pollux, the bigger, round tower.

Comerica Park, Detroit
One key business area for HOCHTIEFs US subsidiary Turner is the construction of sports facilities. One example: Comerica Park in Detroit, completed in 2000. With its adjacent leisure and shopping facilities, the arena is cleverly integrated into downtown Detroit.

Commerzbank tower, Frankfurt/Main
As general contractor, HOCHTIEF built the Commerzbank Tower in Frankfurt am Main. Completed in 1997, this building earned the Group the prestigious British Construction Industry Award. With a total height of almost 300 meters, the bank headquarters is the tallest office building in Europe.

Dortmund Concert Hall
Dortmund Concert Hall
The new concert hall for the German city of Dortmund was erected by HOCHTIEF Construction. It features unique acoustics modeled on those in the concert chamber of the Vienna Musikverein. At night, the elaborate outer facade is illuminated by means of computer-controlled light sources. The concert hall opened in September 2002 with a gala premiere.

Friedrichshafen exhibition complex
Neue Messe Friedrichshafen, the new exhibition complex in Friedrichshafen, is an outstanding example of close, partnership-based cooperation between a construction services provider and a public authority. The complex, built by HOCHTIEF, represents the biggest construction project in this South German city. It was opened at the end of July 2002, after a construction period of just two years.

Friedrichshafen exhibition complex
Friedrichshafen exhibition complex
In July 2002, HOCHTIEF handed over the new Friedrichshafen exhibition complex. The project the citys biggest construction venture comprises nine exhibition halls with a total of about 58,000 square meters of space, a 4,000 square meter multifunctional foyer, and an outdoor area of 12,000 square meters. The complex is used for both regional and international trade fairs.

Hadovka Office Park, Prague
HOCHTIEF built the Hadovka Office Park in the Czech capital of Prague. The main tenant is Siemens, which has rented 23,000 square meters of office premises. The complex, which was completed in November 1999, had a contract volume of around 40 million euros. HOCHTIEF also planned and designed, financed, let and marketed the building.

König Palast, Krefeld
König Palast, Krefeld
Since the end of 2004, the König Palast in Krefeld, erected by HOCHTIEF, offers an all-purpose 2,500 square meter event area. The stadium is able to seat up to 8,000 spectators. Music and cultural events, exhibitions, trade fairs and conferences can also be held here. Depending on the nature of the specific event, the glass facade shines out at night in different colors.

Lincoln Financial Field, Philadelphia
In Philadelphia, HOCHTIEFs US subsidiary Turner erected the Lincoln Financial Field Stadium. Officially opened in August 2003, the imposing stadium, with its 163 VIP luxury suites, restaurants and retail areas, is able to seat 66,000 people.

Mönchengladbach Stadium

The new stadium in Mönchengladbach, built by HOCHTIEF, provides seating for 43,500 soccer fans. If the bottom rows of the grandstand are converted into standing room, the capacity is increased to 53,000. The local soccer club, Borussia Mönchengladbach, demonstrated its prowess in the new stadium for the first time in the 2004/05 season. HOCHTIEF assumed responsibility not only for planning and constructing the arena, but also for developing the area around it, on what was once a barracks site.

Mönchengladbach Stadium
Mönchengladbach Stadium
Numerous alternative proposals put forward by HOCHTIEF helped to save money in the construction of the soccer stadium in the city of Mönchengladbach. By lowering the soccer pitch slightly, the structure as a whole was made somewhat lower. This has shortened the distance to the seats, while the client saved the costs of long staircases and emergency escape routes. The first kick-off in the new stadium was in the 2004/05 season.

Mönchengladbach Stadium

HOCHTIEF was responsible not just for the planning and construction of the soccer stadium in Mönchengladbach, but also for the development of the surrounding area, on what was once a barracks site. The immediate vicinity of the multi-functional stadium offers firms ideal conditions for setting up in business. The arena was used for the first time in the 2004/05 season.

Neanderthal Museum
Neanderthal Museum
In the 19th century, the remains of a 60,000 year-old man were found in Neanderthal Neander Valley near Mettmann, Düsseldorf. The skeleton was named Neanderthal Man. Close to the site of this find, HOCHTIEF erected a highly modern new museum that illustrates the history of human evolution. The building with its interesting architecture was completed in 1996 in just nine months.

In 1997, in just eight months, HOCHTIEF erected the Roncalli-Apollo Variety Theater beneath the Rheinknie Bridge in Düsseldorf. It was also responsible for coordinating all the interior work.

Westfalen Stadium, Dortmund
Westfalen Stadium, Dortmund
By converting the structure of the corners of the Westfalen Stadium in Dortmund, HOCHTIEF increased the number of seats to 14,700 to give a total of over 60,000. The building work was completed between May 2002 and September 2003 without interrupting play. In 1995 and 1996, HOCHTIEF, operating under similar conditions, already built the East and West grandstands for this stadium.

Westfalen Stadium, Dortmund

By presenting an alternative proposal for the roof structure, HOCHTIEF engineers enabled expansion work on the Westfalen Stadium in Dortmund to be completed without interrupting play. Their suggestion: to remove the corner supports and replace these by a cantilever construction, while leaving the girders of the main grandstands in place. These were subsequently anchored in the cantilever construction.
