Noé completed his business management studies at the University of Cologne by obtaining a doctorate. After first working for a number of years as a management consultant at McKinsey & Co. Inc., Düsseldorf/Sao Paulo, Noé was appointed head of the central department corporate development of Thyssen Handelsunion, Düsseldorf. In 1992, he became a member of the management board of Thyssen Schulte GmbH, Dortmund/Düsseldorf; three years later he was appointed to the executive board of Thyssen Handelsunion. In 1998, Noé became chairman of the executive board of CDRB Holding AG.
