UIA Berlin 2002 XXI. World Congress of Architecture
In July 2002 HOCHTIEF was one of the co-sponsors supporting the UIA Berlin 2002,
the XXI World Congress of Architecture. The Union Internationale des Architectes
(UIA) is the worldwide organization for the profession, and has about 1.3 million
members. The World Congress of Architecture was organized under the title of
"Resource Architecture". Visitors from all over the world were able to discuss
the subjects of the responsibility, authority, and technical competence of those
who help to design the environment and of long-lasting architecture in the urban context.
HOCHTIEF is aware of its responsibility as an international construction company
and attempts to reconcile the trends in modern architecture with the needs of the
environment. In particular we are setting new standards with our "Green Building"
projects in which attention is paid to ecological and energy-saving construction
materials. HOCHTIEF saw a major opportunity particularly in this exchange of views
and information with a professional international audience for generating innovative ideas
and technically competent proposals for solving the various problems. It took place
at the same time as the PlanCom Exhibition at which HOCHTIEF was represented with a stand.
