HOCHTIEF

Why HOCHTIEF supports Bauhaus

With the foundation of the Bauhaus in Weimar in 1919, Walter Gropius created the Modern School–the beginning of modern architecture. The aim of the Bauhaus artists was to create built structures that were "Gesamtkunstwerke" or "total works of art".

Just as Bauhaus blazed new trails, in its over 130-year corporate history HOCHTIEF too has always created new things, set trends, and actively helped to shape the development of architecture.

Groundbreaking structures such as Lord Norman Foster's Commerzbank building, the Messeturm in Frankfurt and the Sony-Center in Berlin designed by Helmut Jahn, or C.Y. Lee's Taipeh 101 office tower in Taiwan demonstrate how HOCHTIEF turns exceptional architectural models into reality. These achievements are the basis for our company's commitment to Bauhaus.
