Rehearsal of the RUHR.2010 inauguration ceremony

Jens Herre, an event technology expert with HOCHTIEF Facility Management currently "on loan" to RUHR.2010 GmbH, prepared the inauguration ceremony in his role as technical manager. The photos from HOCHTIEF photographer Christoph Schroll show that even at the dress rehearsal everything went according to plan.
Opened the dress rehearsal for the inauguration ceremony. The signboards got the audience warmed up for the "We are the fire" show.
A clear view upwards: At the dress rehearsal, the cameras had to test whether they would be able to deliver the right pictures for the live transmission on the following day.
"Iron in Essen". At the eight-minute-long percussion performance, the players built a framework of steel drums.
Afterwards drummers who are all members of the Blue Man Group drummed on them.
Dancers with an international background: Some of the dancers who performed in this show were trained at Folkwang University in Essen.
In keeping with the mining culture of the Ruhr: The brass band in their miners uniforms performed the "Steigerlied", the traditional miners' song.
The finale: Herbert Grönemeyer performs "Komm zur Ruhr" at the dress rehearsal of the inauguration ceremony. More than 25 years after his hit song "Bochum", with this six-minute-long anthem Herbert Grönemeyer has once again written a paean to his home region.
A successful dress rehearsal: Fritz Pleitgen, chairman of RUHR.2010 GmbH, extends his thanks to all actors on stage and behind the scenes.
