HOCHTIEF is a sponsoring partner of the European Capital of Culture RUHR.2010 and HOCHTIEF Facility Management has taken on the technical management of the European Capital of Culture RUHR.2010. To achieve this, we are providing the company's organizational team with two project managers from HOCHTIEF Facility Management for more than one year, free of charge. The event technicians from the Essen subsidiary started work on August 1, 2009 and will remain in place until the end of 2010. During this time, they are responsible for the technical planning of events, act as contacts for organizers and artists, and contribute their know-how with regard to implementing large-scale projects, including the Biennale for International Light Art, ExtraSchicht or the Loveparade 2010.

In addition, we are promoting individual projects such as the innovative paper house, which will largely be made of recycled paper. It is located on the grounds of the Zeche Zollverein in Essen, RUHR.2010's central event venue. At the end of September, trainees from HOCHTIEF Construction laid the foundations of the "paper house" which won the architectural "mobile working spaces" competition. During the year as European Capital of Culture, it will also be put to use as an event venue.
