For Borussia Bau- und Besitz Gesellschaft, HOCHTIEF Building constructed the new stadium in Mönchengladbach's Nordpark from 2003 to 2004. Within the framework of the partnership-based business model PreFair, HOCHTIEF was not only in charge of construction, but also of planning the multi-function arena. PreFair made for a smooth construction phase—without deadline problems, additional costs or quality defects. HOCHTIEF brought to bear its innovation power and submitted several alternative proposals for optimization. As a result, costs were reduced, among others. The impressive arena was built within a mere 20 months and was thus handed over three months ahead of schedule. It has a capacity to seat 56,000 spectators (including 43,500 roofed seats) for German first soccer league matches and a modern business area. The new stadium is part of the overall concept "Area of Sports". In parallel to the arena's construction, this part of Nordpark was prepared for development by investors, with HOCHTIEF delivering all the required infrastructure.
HOCHTIEF already built a large number of sports and event facilities, including among others the Olympic Stadium in Berlin. With its subsidiary Turner, HOCHTIEF also has a presence as an expert in sports facilities construction in the USA.
