Wassily Kandinsky and Paul Klee: An artists' friendship in Dessau

A special exhibition entitled "Wassily Kandinsky and Paul Klee: An artists' friendship in Dessau" ran from February 4th through May 7th, 2000, on the occasion of the opening to the public of the Kandinsky-Klee duplex. Major collections from Germany, France, and the United States paid homage with valuable loans of works to the significance of the house.
The 40 paintings and drawings formed an overview of the creative works of Kandinsky and Klee, focusing mainly on the works that originated in Dessau. Those displayed included Kandinsky's "Scharfe Härte" (1926) and "Kühle Streifen" (1929) and Paul Klee's "Geisterzimmer" (1925) and "Rekonstruktionen" (1926).

The paintings of these two artists were thus returning for a brief visit to the place where they had originated, the studios in the master-craftsman duplex of Kandinsky-Klee.
