Parental leave at HOCHTIEF? No trouble at all.

Katrin H., Site Manager
HOCHTIEF Solutions, HOCHTIEF Hamburg

When I got the chance to work as a junior site manager for HOCHTIEF in Hamburg, I jumped at the opportunity—and I've never regretted it. I still work for HOCHTIEF today and am incredibly happy here. After a brief foray into the area of business development, I'm once again working as site manager. I love having worked on so many buildings in and around Hamburg, including Halle III in the fishing port, the Lion King Theater, and most recently the new theater that will be built in the harbor.

Since I now have three children, I work part-time. I really appreciate how HOCHTIEF and especially my supervisors have enabled me to adapt my working hours flexibly, depending on my family's needs—and even to partly work from home. After each parental leave, I was able to re-enter the company very smoothly. My colleagues always managed to give me the feeling that I had barely been gone. They're also very considerate about the fact that I can't always attend all meetings and events due to my reduced working hours. I wish that more fathers would also decide to take parental leave. From my experience, I know that parents can count on HOCHTIEF's support.

I am just as passionate as before about my job as a site manager. To me, it's the most appealing area at HOCHTIEF. It's also fun to show younger colleagues the areas of responsibility involved in the job. I've been able to gain a lot of experience over the last few years, so I'm able to take on complex tasks independently and thus contribute to the overall success of a project.

I really appreciate how HOCHTIEF and especially my supervisors have enabled me to adapt my working hours flexibly, depending on my family's needs.
